Sharon L Norris - Published Writer

"If my doctor told me I had only six minutes to live, I wouldn't brood.

I'd type a little faster."

~ Isaac Asimov ~

Writing has been a huge part of my life for the good part of three decades now.  I first started writing stories as a child in year 5 or 6 at school. Unfortunately, none of my masterpieces from those days still exist, but my own daughters are now writing their own little stories and I am keeping them so that in the future my girls will look back on their early efforts with pride.

I have explored many different genres of writing, which was a great apprenticeship because it not only taught me many things about writing but it drew me to the area of writing I love the most - children's writing.  Children don't look at things critically like adults do, and fully appreciate what the imagination can bring to life in words. Once kids become teens they think more critically and tend to imagine less, so the fanciful tales of childhood thus are left behind. If you've ever read Michael Ende's "The Neverending Story", you will know that the imaginary world of Fantasia was in danger of collapsing because people (adults) had forgotten how to imagine out in the real world. I truly believe there is a lesson in there for us all.

I love writing for the 8-12 year old age range, because these are the readers who are really in full charge of their imaginations.

In this section of my website, I will tell you a little about my publication successes. Click on the Book Titles below left and you will read all about my published works. You can even purchase copies of some of these works through me, if you wish, and I will happily autograph your purchase for you or your nominated recipient. I have also established a blog that will be devoted just to writing. Hopefully it will be of interest!

I do hope to leave children who read my books with stories that take them out of the realm of everyday life and into the incredible adventures of the imagination.

The terms "Simply Magic Ceremonies By Sharon L Norris" and "A Touch Of Magic To Your Special Day" are promotional slogans, not business trading names, as I operate under my own name. These slogans have been used since 2005 and 2008 respectively, and come from the fact that I share the same name as Filch's cat in the magical Harry Potter series, of which I am a huge fan. They are not registered terms. However, if any individual or business has an issue with me using these terms as part of my business operations, please contact me. Unlike Filch's cat, I will not bite or scratch...
