"I cannot fix the hour, or the spot, or the look, or the words, which laid the foundation.

It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun."

~ Mr Darcy explains his love for Elizabeth Bennet in "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen ~

Thousands of couples have married in civil ceremonies in Australia since 1973, when the Civil Marriage Celebrant Program commenced. This dynamic and forward-thinking program has provided couples with real alternatives to the other existing forms of marriage in Australia - weddings conducted in churches and registry offices.

Civil weddings continue to grow in popularity with every passing year, so much so that of the 111,000 weddings conducted in Australia in 2005, 60% were conducted by civil marriage celebrants - up from 51% in 1999 and 40% in 1985 (Source: ABS)

There aren't any hard or fast rules about getting married in a civil ceremony. The occasion can be as grand or as laid back as you wish, held in any location at any time, and you have complete choice about the way in which you are married. There is no right way or wrong way to get married - just your way.

You can be married at sunset in a reception centre at the top of a mountain. You can stand at the edge of the ocean, barefoot and carefree, or be out on that ocean in a boat. You can welcome in the New Year with a ceremony at midnight. You can marry in your own backyard or in a municipal park or gardens. You can say your vows drifting on the wind at dawn in a hot air balloon, or during a flight en route to your honeymoon destination. The possibilities are endless.

I provide a range of wedding services to meet different needs, expectations and budgets. Click on the Weddings links above left to read further information about these ceremonies.

Please note: I no longer travel great distances to conduct ceremonies as it is not economically viable to do so. It takes time and money to travel to venues in these locations, and it is difficult to be appropriately compensated for that. For this reason, I no longer conduct ceremonies in the following locations:

The Sunshine Coast & Hinterland (including Maleny, Glasshouse Mountains etc)

The Brisbane Valley (Esk, Wivenhoe Dam, etc)

 Locations west of Ipswich

 Locations north of Redcliffe

Any of the Islands in Moreton Bay

The Southern Gold Coast (Currumbin, Coolangatta etc)

Northern New South Wales (Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Byron Bay etc)

~ If you have any questions about locations, please don't hesitate to contact me ~

The terms "Simply Magic Ceremonies By Sharon L Norris" and "A Touch Of Magic To Your Special Day" are promotional slogans, not business trading names, as I operate under my own name. These slogans have been used since 2005 and 2008 respectively, and come from the fact that I share the same name as Filch's cat in the magical Harry Potter series, of which I am a huge fan. They are not registered terms. However, if any individual or business has an issue with me using these terms as part of my business operations, please contact me. Unlike Filch's cat, I will not bite or scratch...
