"Oh, The Places You'll Go!"

Diary Of An Australian Children's Writer

Sunday, 01 January 2012

Another year is over - thankfully! It was not a good year for me health-wise and I am not sorry to wave goodbye to 2011.

Like many people, I have set myself some goals for 2012. Writing-wise, I aim to write at least one new novel for upper primary readers, as well as focus on exploring some adult writing interests that were not progressed during 2011. I aim to read more and have a new Kindle e-reader to assist me with this process. I also aim to explore e-publishing markets and learn more about these. I will also be speaking with my contact in TAFE QLD about redeveloping the children's writing course that I currently mark, and possibly develop some other products for them.

Health-wise, I have to lose weight as it is the key to conquering some medical conditions that I have. This is not as easy as it may seem, but I will approach it with the same intensity that I will approach my writing goals this year.

I continue to be grateful for the friendship and support of so many friends in the writing community. There's always a word of helpful advice when needed, and solutions to plot problems and character questions. I do appreciate all advice received to date.

Happy New Year and may your writing goals also be fruitful!
