"When humans participate in ceremony, they enter a sacred space. Everything outside of that space shrivels in importance.

Time takes on a different dimension. Emotions flow more freely.

The bodies of participants become filled with the energy of life, and this energy reaches out and blesses the creation around them.

All is made new; everything becomes sacred."

Giving Something Back To Your Community

As a former develoment officer (i.e. fundraising professional), I have gained a fine appreciation of what it means to give to the community and the benefits that giving brings to the community.  The concept of "giving" is not very entrenched in the Australian psyche, unfortunately. It would seem that only in times of enormous disaster do we Aussies ever think about putting our hands in our pockets to help those affected.  Many people also would never dream of giving their time voluntarily to help in their own communities, and that's a great shame.

I get a lot out helping my community as a volunteer, and encourage everyone to think about what they can do for the betterment of their own community. I have written grant applications and sizzled sausages for my children's school. I have worked with other celebrants to establish a celebrant association. I have been involved in writing groups and helped fellow writers develop their skills.

The following not-for-profit organisations are worthy of support. You may not hear about them every day, but they are doing very valuable work in the community.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT PROMOTIONAL SLOGANS USED ON THIS SITE AND COPYRIGHT:

The terms "Simply Magic Ceremonies By Sharon L Norris" and "A Touch Of Magic To Your Special Day" are promotional slogans, not business trading names, as I operate under my own name. These slogans have been used since 2005 and 2008 respectively, and come from the fact that I share the same name as Filch's cat in the magical Harry Potter series, of which I am a huge fan. They are not registered terms. However, if any individual or business has an issue with me using these terms as part of my business operations, please contact me. Unlike Filch's cat, I will not bite or scratch...
